Case Studies on Just Some of the Successes Achieved by
Intelligent Online Marketing Ltd.

www.4plates.co.uk

The Challenge

4plates offers road legal number plates for all types of vehicles as well as old style plates for classical and show vehicles. They now also sell novelty and fun plates for use on bedrooms, sheds, etc.

Before IOM became involved, they were having to rely on the use of PPC to bring in the traffic, the website not having any organic rankings to speak of. Worse still, the PPC campaign was not well structured which meant that the conversion costs were far too high. 4Plates needed higher traffic levels but did not want to pay for every visit.

The Solution

IOM’s first action was to restructure the PPC campaign which immediately reduced the cost per click and increased the ROI, some keyword research being carried out which identified a whole host of keywords that the owner had not thought of. Then, over the next few months we optimised the website and started a long term link building strategy. A number of specially created pages were also added to the site in order to capture terms identified as being key, these pages also adding to the overall relevance of the site.

The Benefits

The results have been outstanding, as after just 6 months 4plates was able to cease PPC altogether (it not being the most cost effective manner of bringing in new business due to the low profit on every order) and rely solely on organic listings. Over the next 18 months IOM has continued to increase the rankings of the site and has just created a much more Search Engine Friendly index page in a drive to increase the sales of 4plate’s novelty plate range.

Following the success of the campaigns to date, 4plates has doubled its expenditure on optimisation works, and saw an increase in sales in the very first month.

www.russell-skidmore-photography.co.uk

The Challenge

This is a small (but very well formed) website whose aim is to bring in clients for a Yorkshire based photographer. Weddings are his staple, but Russell also offers commercial and press release photographic services.
Russell had had a website for 18 months by the time IOM were asked to help, during this time the site having no organic rankings and precious little traffic. It was real waste as the examples of Russell’s photography on the site were (and are) fantastic.

The Solution

As you can imagine, Russell’s budget was not huge, but that did not stop IOM being able to be able to fully optimise the site to make sure it “Shouted” the right words. The keyword research we carried out revealed that the phrase “professional photographers” was well searched for and yet was not being targeted by the hundreds of other photographers in the country. Armed with information like this IOM set to work.

The Benefits

The results have been amazing, after having no rankings at all, in just a few months, Russell’s site now has a good profile on the engines, (including for that term “professional photographers” with the result that he is now getting around two to three enquiries a week.

Work on the site at a low level is being carried out with the aim of increasing the rankings for other keywords identified as being key.

A motorcycle holiday website

The Challenge

This site (name withheld for commercial reasons) offers motorcycle racing holidays as well as motorcycle tours. IOM became involved when one of the many website design companies we work with asked for our assistance for both SEO and PPC , whilst they redeveloped the website.

The Solution

The website had reasonable organic rankings, but they wanted more business through their site. Thus IOM created a highly targeted PPC campaign, whilst also ensuring that the site was well optimised SEO wise.

The Benefits

With IOM’s help the site now brings in six times more business than it’s biggest competitor, a much bigger company that was so amazed at the success of the site that it bought the company.

Currently, IOM is now running an extended PPC campaign for this customer and has recently been engaged to run a pilot for the larger company selling their F1 racing holiday packages. Talks are also underway about the development and optimisation of a new site for this company together with an extended PPC campaign.

www.packaging2u.co.uk

The Challenge

The online packaging arm of the giant UK MacFarlane Packaging, Packaging2U’s aim was to sell packaging materials online to businesses and consumers, their products ranging from cardboard boxes and bubblewrap  etc to some types of commercial clothing. Packaging2U had been running their own PPC campaign for a few months before IOM became involved, their attempts at boosting sales proving very costly.

The Solution

IOM’s first step was to carry out detailed analysis in the keywords being used and the competitions linking structure and apparent SEO strategy. This data was used in the reconstruction of the PPC campaign, which reduced the cost per click whilst making it more manageable.

The Benefits

The result was that the required increase in orders was obtained,  whilst the cost per order was reduced, thus allowing the management team to meet their financial targets, something that they had been quite worried about.

After the campaign had proved itself, P2U then took the operation of the PPC campaign in house and have been managing it ever since, requesting assistance with analytics when required.

www.contemporary.co.uk

The Challenge

Contemporary offers business intelligence consultancy and training services to companies both large and small in the UK and beyond.  The aim of the site is to get their potential customers to contact them to discuss their needs.

One of IOM’s affiliate web design companies had just finished the new site when IOM was asked to become involved, the first issue being to make the new site, which was not very Search Engine friendly, work SEO wise.

The Solution

Steps were therefore recommended and implemented, the keywords chosen being selected from the comprehensive list obtained in the keyword research phase. The PPC campaign was also restructured to ensure that the many “bad clicks” were eradicated.

The Benefits

The results were phenomenal, the site appearing on the first few pages of Google within just a week (this being due to reasonably strong external linking structure at that time) where before listings had been very few and far between. The PPC campaigns results were also transformed, the number of “bad” visits being reduced to zero within a month.

Over the next 12 months, IOM’s continued off page optimisation efforts have pushed Contemporary’s organic rankings up even more in both quality and quantity whilst the PPC campaign continues to bring in business.

IOM is currently working on improving the results in even wider areas whilst amending the current  optimisation to take into account the inevitable changes in the ever changing world of IT.

www.learntodream.co.uk

The Challenge

Learntodream offers a very high quality photographic printing service for consumers on a variety of unique materials as well as traditional ones like canvas and photographic paper. The objective of the site is to get customers to submit images so that the experts at Learntodream can show them just what can be done.
IOM were approached at the Online Marketing show by the marketing manager of Learntodream as they wanted some quality business from their site. They had tried PPC before and it had not worked at all and their rankings were pretty poor.

The Solution

Both competitor and keyword research reports were run and the current website reviewed and suggestions for improvements made. The website was then relaunched  and optimised at the same time, a linking strategy also being put into effect.

The PPC campaign, whilst being far more effective than the previous ones proved not to be worthwhile, thus all efforts were directed to optimisation of the site.

The Benefits

The results proved very successful indeed, the number of organic visits doubling in just two months, whilst the percentage of sales attributed to the internet increased to such a degree that Learntodream doubled their optimisation budget.  IOM continues to work to further improve the rankings of the site.

“IOM have proven to be a great find for us, they work extremely hard and deliver what they say they will, on time and within budget.”

Intelligent Online Marketing stepped in to help frem when the agency originally contracted to complete our new web site were unable to provide a site that was constructed in such a way as to facilitate Search Engine Optimisation.

Graham and his team provided expert and impartial advice, working alongside the original web design agency to devise a new and innovative web construction method which allowed frem to retain the aesthetic qualities of a flash based site yet still have a site which was constructed in such a way as to allow  all of the benefits of a web site optimised for search engines. Graham was able to offer expert advice and was instrumental in facilitating the smooth development of a web site that now meets all the needs of our organisation."

Mat Cole - FREM

*********

When I first considered optimising our web site and investing in paid advertising I was rather sceptical – partly because it is difficult to find reliable conscientious consultants working in this area and partly because I was worried that costs would escalate beyond our means.

Then I was introduced to Graham Baylis of IOM.

I immediately realised that Graham was explaining complex issues in plain English so that I understood what he was saying. I quickly came to have confidence in him and his Company and engaged him to optimise our web site and market it within an agreed budget.

I have been very happy with the results of his efforts and would have no hesitation in recommending his services to anyone with a similar need. Indeed I do recommend his services quite regularly.

I have also been pleasantly surprised to find that the costs of achieving our desired results have been entirely manageable and, with Graham’s help, we now set aside an agreed monthly budget for adverts which means are costs are controlled.

In summary, our association with IOM has meant that we have now got an effective web site which is found by the visitors we want to attract and all within a budget which is significantly less than other less effective forms of marketing.

*******

Although we had been using Google Pay Per Click for some months our analysis of the results showed a marginal return on our investment. Also our web site had not been designed with search engines in mind and as a result our site was practically invisible in the free listings of the Search Engines. For these reasons we turned to Graham at IOM.

The results were startling, our PPC campaigns became effective and cost us less per click, and our site now dominates the engines appearing on page one for a wide range of crucial key phrases.

I am happy to recommend IOM.
