Yahoo Announce Major Changes

Yahoo announced some major changes on the 2nd October, the new capabilities being desinged to give users better assistance and more options.

This move has followed the recent changes to the MSN engine. It seems that both Yahoo and MSN are really trying hard to stop Google "running away" with the Search Engine marketplace.

However, pundits are saying that many of these "new" offerings are already available from Google with some predicting that Google's market share will eventually reach 90%, totally marginalising Yahoo and MSN.

Yahoo's new search enhancements are designed to only provide extra assistance to users when they ask for it, and not whether they want it or not (something that will distinguish Yahoo from the other engines.

Other new functions include the integration of multimedia results such as video, audio and photos, including pictures from Yahoo's Flickr photo-sharing site.

Clearly some changes, but it seems that Yahoo has a real job to do if it is to beat Google..
