iRazoo - A New Search Engine With a Difference

iRazoo was launched at the end of July ‘07 by a group of US Entrepreneurs. The new search engine is distinctly different because it uses the recommendations of its users to improve and refine its search results. As it is putting power into the hands of its users it has obviously embraced the Web 2.0 principles.

It encourages its users to leave feedback about the sites that they visit by rewarding them with points. These points can then be exchanged for rewards including MP3 players, digital cameras and games. All you have to do is resister on the iRazoo website, perform a search and then decide whether or not to recommend the site or not. There is even space for any comments. You get 2 points for every search you make but there is a maximum daily limit of 50 points. You can also accrue extra points by recommending your friends to register and use the site. There are no daily limits for the amount of points you can get via this method.

iRazoo’s founders believe that by using their search engine you will get excellent search results. This is due to the fact that they aggregate data from all the best major search engines. Also, as you get the chance to comment on the sites you visit, you help to refine the search results for other users and visa versa.

Some users, who may be lured to use this search engine because of the points system, may not continue to use it as the search results are displayed in a new window. Some users might find this annoying. The other downside is that although the rewards are great, it will certainly take along time to accrue the 58,000 points required for some of the items available.

There is also a concern about how iRazoo will monitor the recommendations made by its user, so as to prevent foul play. It is currently quite easy to get your website at the top of the listings by continuously recommending it.

It remains too been seen if the appeal of having a refined search result, plus the chance to earn points will be enough to attract many users to this search engine.
